"So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt," (Matthew 2:14, NIV).
When God speaks to us we need to respond. That response should be a firm and decisive yes. We see all throughout the Bible the righteous men and women following God obediently and immediately. Just like we see in this passage from Matthew about Mary's husband Joseph.
When God told Joseph to take Jesus and Mary and go to Egypt he didn't wait. He didn't even wait until morning. The passage says, "During the night." Joseph got up as soon as he had the dream from God and did as God was asking of him.
How often do we follow God's will for us so immediately? Or do we drag our heels, and fight it because it may no be exactly what we had planned for our lives. God is the most important aspect of our lives, and He needs to be the one we listen to. Even when we have to stop listening to ourselves.
